Founder of Street Fighting - David Burt

David Burt  has been involved in Martial Arts Training since 1968.  He began his training in Kenpo Karate and Judo at the YMCA in San Jose.  After several years of training he began training in Tae Kwon Do and Wing Chun KungFu, with some western boxing and wrestling thrown in. David has continued to train off and on in various styles ever since. After achieving his first Black Belt rank in 1974 David became interested in realistic fighting techniques and training.  Starting in 1976 David organized multi-style street fighting workouts around the California Bay Area.  His workouts focused on finding the best ways to handle violence in any form, in any environment, with any tools. David pulled techniques from every style around him and tested them in environments and situations as close to reality as possible.  He has lead classes in traditional studios, gymnasiums, cafeterias, parks, garages, plus many outdoor classes in every environment from the deep woods to parking lots.  Beginning around 1985, David organized his street fighting knowledge into a comprehensive and distinct system.  David’s classes have always been small, but they tend to attract very serious martial artists.  David’s students are respected for their ability to handle just about anything thrown at them.

David has developed a series of drills designed to integrate various “Techniques” into an integrated fight-ready whole.  These include: grappling with the addition of kicking or punching; integrated kicking/punching drills; weapons training integrated with various other flavors of fighting; environment analysis and strategic use; scenario training; etc.

Classes are ongoing and available in several locations, Please contact David for class times and locations.  David does teach some private lessons.
